3D Movie in Focus: Avatar

Watching your favorite movie in 3D is really very good.  Through the use of this technology, you as the viewer will be able to feel yourself getting literally involved in the events and happenings in the movie.  It’s as if you can touch everything there.  However, not all movies can be viewed using this innovative technology. 3D Movies are specially made for the purpose of being viewed using the said technology.  Even if this is so, choosing the right 3d Movie is still something that can never be done easily.  The 3D Movies available now are numerous enough to confuse you.  We have Coraline.  We have the movie My Bloody Valentine. And we have the interesting Journey to the Center of the Earth.  No, this article will not talk about all these 3D Movies.  This will not even talk about one of those three.  We just gave them as examples. The 3D Movie that we are featuring in this article is the movie Avatar which was a huge success in its theatrical release, making a good choice for 3D home viewing.

The movie Avatar is about a crippled soldier names Jake Sully.  He is sent into a mission into an alien earth-like moon that orbits a bigger Jupiter-like blue planet.  It is said that this planet contains a very useful element called Unobtanium which could be used to solve the energy crisis that was making Earth highly chaotic.  Jake is linked to an Avatar of himself and this Avatar is somewhat forced to wander the alien planet befriend the inhabitants of the said planet so he will be able to gather information about how humans could get their hands to the precious element.  However, he falls in love with an alien named Neytiri and he is pushed to make a stand—is he going to serve his purpose as a member of the human race or is he going to save the planet from being exhausted of its precious Unobtanium.  Using his better judgment, Jake decides to protect the planet and thinks that there could be other more acceptable ways of solving Earth’s problems. A war between the humans and the inhabitants of the alien planet breaks and casualties was rising on both sides.  At the end, the humans were defeated and the aliens took control over the bounties of their planet.  Jake decides to transfer all of his consciousness to his Avatar self and is very successful in doing so.

Avatar is positively received by viewers from all over the world. It may have been the good and action packed storyline that did this as there really are a lot of adventurous people out there who want to see action and adventure in everything, movies included.  Whatever is the reason, one thing could be derived—it was this movie that catapulted the 3D technology popularity and world wide recognition. Although there have been other 3D movies showed before in theaters, Avatar has been the one that could be considered as the most successful of them all.
